It is hard to argue that the position of quarterback is the most demanding position in all of sports. Because of this, when the whole team succeeds, quarterbacks will receive more credit than they deserve; likewise, when the team fails, they will receive more blame than is warranted. However, off the playing field, I believe that everyone has been given the ability to be a leader. At Paul Troth Quarterback University, I do not focus solely on short-sighted leadership goals such as wins, losses, and statistics. Instead, I seek to develop the tools needed for quarterbacks to be leaders who strives for significance in life outside of football. It is not enough to be successful in the world's eyes. A true leader puts others before their self; they exhibit a mixture of personal humility and professional will, and attribute success to factors other than their selves. Great leaders show workman-like diligence and are more plow-horse than show-horse; they are willing to get their hands dirty. Someone who is driven and recognizes that his drive can inspire others has the potential to become a great leader. It is important that quarterbacks learn to bring out the best in their teammates. I believe that any success a quarterback has will stem from servant-leadership and how well they help to put others in the best position to succeed.
