A quarterback's primary job is, simply, to lead the team down the field and score points; it is not throwing four touchdowns for 300 yards only to lose. Like it or not, winning is how quarterbacks are judged. There has to be a swagger and assurance in the form of self-confidence that comes from the position and carries over into the others players on offense. There is a difference between confidence and arrogance, however, and the fine-line between the two can oftentimes get blurred, resulting in ineffective performance. Confidence in yourself and your abilities should only come from hard work. I truly believe that a football player makes his own "luck" and that nothing happens by accident. As a result of hard work and knowledge of the game, a player will exude the confidence necessary to perform well in all circumstances. A quarterback with confidence assumes that whatever goals are desired by the team solely rest upon the quarterbacks shoulders. As a result, this sense of responsibility drives a quarterback to practice perfect, put in the extra work, and never be satisfied. This creates confidence. Great quarterbacks are easy to see because they exude a confidence that others want to be
